Mr G's Bar & Grill is our modern day take on our nostalgic Gallagher Heritage. Named in honour of our hospitality mentor, Brian Gallagher - known lovingly amongst friends, family and staff alike, as Mr G.
In the 10th Century, Gallagher or "Ó Gallchobhair", meaning "foreign helper", began their origins as Norse Vikings landing on the shores of the North West Coast of Ireland in the now, County Donegal. They earned their Gaelic name name due to their efforts in battles against that area's invaders and eventually became the County Captains and Soldiers due to their heightened ability for war.
For years they established themselves, prospered and grew. Moving on to the 1840s, potato famine & disease were rife. The Irish population was left badly ravaged. Fever and dysentery were relieved only by a Cholera, which was particularly bad throughout the West Coast. From here we lose track of half of our O Gallchobhair brothers who set off to the port of Belfast for the shores of New York whilst we and the other half of our clan made our way to Port Cobh County Cork for the Shores of Sydney.
For years we have been bringing Australia authentic Irish and now we honour those brothers lost to the other side of the world when we split so long ago with a true American Bar and Restaurant.
As with all Ó Gallchobhairs, Mr G's retains our original name's definition of true helpers. So let us help and serve you.
